#hyperhidrosis #sweating - how to control perspiration.

Why do people perspire more when they are under stress situations?
With stress, more cortisol is produced; this hormone reaches the sweat glands inducing sweating. Antiseptic soaps (with salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or adapalene) and deodorants with aluminium chloride hydroxide are helpful. Magnesium hydroxide applied in the underarm regions also helps in reducing sweat. It is important to opt for 100% cotton clothes, which facilitate perspiration, and avoid synthetic materials. In the clinic, botulinum toxin application helps to combat excessive sweating.

Why do we sweat so much in the cold days?
Many patients suffer from excessive sweating in the winter months. This fact happens because in the summer various parts of the body sweat (face, legs, groin). In winter, as there is a constriction of the blood vessels in the extremities, we lose less heat and thus sweat less in these regions. Therefore, sweating will be localized in the armpit areas (which are covered).

How to control the sweating for an important meeting at work, an interview or the first date?
Firstly, choose the right fabric clothing - preferably cotton. Avoid synthetic fabrics, warm baths and stimulants like caffeine and alcohol. Also, use antiperspirants with high concentration of aluminum chlorhydroxide.

What is the right time to use the antiperspirant?
You can use it day and night. If the product has a high concentration of aluminum chloride hydroxide, the guidance is to use at night, reapllying during the day. Thus, there will be a more effective inhibition of the sweat glands.

Can we use antiperspirant every day, or is it better to switch with a common deodorant?
There is no contraindication to the use of antiperspirant daily. It is recommended, however, to switch the concentrations of aluminum chloride hydroxide - between 8% (normal antiperspirants) and those with higher concentrations, ranging 15-25% (which are used under medical supervision).

Do creamy deodorants oclude underarm "breathing"?
Yes. They clog pores.

Can aerosol deodorants cause irritation?
Deodorants in general - in aerosol spray, roll-on - may contain alcohol and fasteners in their composition, and trigger irritation. Fragrances can also cause allergies.

In the waxing day, what is the best type of deodorant?
Waxing leaves the skin more vulnerable. Therefore, it is recommended a pause between the waxing and the use of deodorant. Creams, powders, and those that do not contain alcohol and a lot of fasteners suit better.

How to control sweating (and the bad smell) during the day?
Using cotton clothing or fabric technology and avoiding synthetic materials. Choose a good roll-on or spray deodorant and shower with antibacterial soap.

What are the solutions for excessive sweating?
Hyperhidrosis is detected in the axillae, hands, feet or other body areas. Treatment options vary: oral drugs (anxiolytics) act in cases of anxiety and stress. "Scraping" the sweat glands or removing the nerves that stimulate these glands are surgical solutions. However, such procedures can generate compensatory sweating on 30 to 40% of patients. This means that the excessive sweating begins to manifest in other areas of the body. Botulinum toxin is a very effective intervention, with no risks of compensatory sweating. The procedure is simple: it is performed in the office with a topical anesthetic ointment. The effect lasts 6 to 8 months; after this period, application should be repeated. Another way to control hyperhidrosis is the use of topical formulations that contain aluminum chlorhydroxide in high concentrations.

Does the food have any influence on perspiration?
Foods high in caffeine and spicy foods have thermogenic effect, elevating the body temperature - which can trigger sweating.
