#acne solutions - part 2

Now I will talk about moderate acne, which consists in frequent or constant appearance of sore and inflamed pimples, primarily in the jaw and cheek areas. Besides pain, there is also the visual discomfort and risk of sequelae, such as scars and pigmentation. This type of acne requires drug therapy consisting of:
Oral antibiotics ( prescribed by doctor) : the best options are erythromycin, azithromycin and doxycycline. The usage time ranges from 1 to 6 months.

Topical gels : we recommend preferably retinoids such as tretinoin, isotretinoin and adapalene (note that the formulas concentrations are variable). There are also good formulas on the market that combine retinoids and benzoyl peroxide. Topical antibiotics should be avoided not to induce bacterial resistance.

For women with moderate acne it is often worthy to associate oral contraceptive pill based on cyproterone to improve hormonal balance (Dianette) .
The same precautions mentioned for mild acne are valid here such as correct skin cleansing, exfoliation once a week, and sunscreen.
Important: in such cases of acne, skin cleansing at clinics should be done only after stabilization of the disease. Chemical peels can be done even in the acute phases.
